Last week, a number of Kintail staff visited Heartland Center outside Kansas City, Missouri to attend the Annual Conference! This conference seeks to address the needs of outdoor ministry leaders from across the United States and Canada. It serves as a time of learning and fellowship allowing folks to make connections with other camp directors and staff, participate in workshops, and seek spiritual restoration during worship services. Johnathon, Theresa, Flame, Hydra, Lune, and Ari were all able to learn and grow with others in the camping industry.
What is the PCCCA?
PCCCA (Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association) is a collection of Presbyterian camps and conference centres across North America. Around 50 different camps were in attendance at this years annual conference as well as individuals representing organizations that work within the Presbyterian church. The PCCCA makes possible a variety of initiatives that support the ministry of Christian camping. Other PCCCA events this year include Maintenance Connection, Program Connection, and more! Kintail is especially excited to be the first Canadian camp to host Program Connection this coming January! Registration for Program Connection is open now and is an opportunity for anyone in the camp/ conference ministry to meet new people, gather resources, and learn from each other!
What did ya’ll get up to?
Everyone at the annual conference was able to experience all of the wonderful amenities of Heartland Center! We enjoyed their meeting/ worship spaces, dining hall, high ropes course, horse-back-riding trails, and more! Each of us went to specific workshops and sessions that helped offer new perspectives and sharpen our skills. We look forward to putting some of these ideas into practice here at Kintail! We look forward to next years annual conference at Ferncliff camp in Little Rock, Arkansas!
We want to thank the Heartland staff for their amazing hospitality and willingness to make us feel welcomed. And lastly to the PCCCA and the conference planning team for giving us a great experience and working tirelessly to make our trip to Kansas City very worthwhile.
