We're Hiring! Interim Director of Outdoor Education


We have an opening for Outdoor Education Director to cover a maternity leave for this amazing full time job with benefits and competitive salary. Work with the wonderful team at Camp Kintail, and this could lead to ongoing full time work if that is your goal.

The chosen applicant will receive a competitive compensation package including full benefits plan and 4 weeks paid holidays. The primary responsibility of the position is planning, scheduling and running school trips.

Interim Outdoor Education Director

Camp Kintail is a growing organization that provides day and overnight summer camp, retreats, outdoor education, weddings, rentals, and much more.  The Interim Outdoor Education Director will join a team of a dozen other year-round staff members to create community for all guests, campers, and seasonal staff members. 

Responsible To: 

  • Assist the Directors in the smooth running of Camp Kintail, meeting with them regularly.

  • Co-ordinate school groups, ensuring smooth booking, scheduling and programming for the groups.

  • Host school groups, overseeing all group hosts and the school group programming. 

  • Coordinate and oversee the summer day camp program. 

  • Coordinate children’s summer day programs.  

  • Manage Camp Kintail’s geocaching program.

  • Interview and hire staff with the personnel team.

  • Supervise staff as requested, including writing season evaluations. 

  • Provide on-call support for staff, site, and groups as requested.

  • Host rental groups and lead programming.  Cooking and cleaning responsibilities as required.

  • Take responsibility for ensuring the site is retreat and camper ready.

  • Maintain and update a monthly VISA statement for approved expenditures.  

  • Work with the Directors to ensure that Camp Kintail meets all government, OCA, TSSSA, and OPHEA policies.

  • Work with other staff and volunteers in a collaborative fashion.

  • Participate fully as a year-round staff member and by word and deed encourage a faithful Christian witness.


Desired Qualifications: 

  • Outdoor education or education background and education. 

  • Experience with training and supervising others.

  • Flexibility and a sense of fun.  

  • Experience in a camp setting (camper, staff, parent, guest) would be helpful.

  • A personal living faith.

  • Administrative skills.

  • A willingness to work in a team environment.

  • A valid “G” driver’s license and insurable with the camp.

  • A Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR “C”.

Compensation and Terms:

Competitive salary package based on experience and education.  This is a year-round salaried position with health and dental benefits. It is understood that the spring, summer, and fall require more hours and the winter is more available for time off.  This position is a one year contract position covering a parental leave, but an extension may be possible if agreed to by all parties.
