December Kin-Tales

Dear friends,

For many of us, there is a moment that helps us get in the mood for Christmas. It might be when the tree goes up, the lights are turned on, everyone is home, the gifts are wrapped, or the last advent candle is lit. For me, it is attending the HuronSong Chorus Christmas Concert, which happens the week before Christmas. The HuronSong Chorus is a community choir that performs twice a year with proceeds going to the Huron Women's Shelter. Camp Kintail's own Shelagh "Flame" O'Neill has been part of the choir for several years. The concert was fabulous, as always, and put me in the mood for Christmas. It lifted me from my to-do list and into the spirit of love and peace.

I hope that all of us are able to find those moments of connection and grace in the coming weeks. At its core, Christmas is the time of year when we remember that love came down (as the Exeter Kid's Choir reminded us at the concert). God became human in the baby Jesus, cradled by his mother and honoured by shepherds and magi. God became human and lived here among us, revealing God's nature through the life of Jesus. We are not alone, we are known, we are loved. Love came down at Christmas, and life was forever changed. Thanks be to God.

Wishing you peace and love,

Theresa & Johnathon
