2025 February Kin-Tales

Dear friends,

It is so special to experience Camp Kintail in the winter. For decades, Kintail was only open in the summer, and as the years went by, the season was extended into the spring and fall. But Camp would still shut down for the winter, and if you wanted to see the snow, you would have to hike in from the highway. Since the opening of the Nest in 2019, the camp is now open year-round. With the pandemic, it took some time before groups were able to use the camp in the winter, but now we are hosting school groups, family reunions, Girl Guide winter camps, and our own retreats throughout the whole winter. Sometimes they do get cancelled or postponed due to the weather - especially this January and February.

Right now the basketball court is transformed into a small ice rink, a cross-country trail loops around the site, and there are a lot of hidden corners to explore on snowshoes. From the beach, all you can see is ice and snow. You can see the prints of animals and birds as they make their way around the site. What is also noticeable is what is absent - which is the sound of the waves. The waves are the soundtrack to the Kintail experience, and it is odd to notice the quiet around site. Please reach out if you (or your group) want to experience Kintail in the winter. It will be an incredible experience and we would love to welcome you to a new season at Kintail.

Peace, Theresa & Johnathon
