Hey Guys,
I just wanted to let you know that this past May I went on the nursing trip with my school, (Georgian College) to Ocoa, Dominican Republic. I am the only Pre- Health Student to ever go on this trip and I loved every second of it. We went for 10 days and stayed in city of Ocoa. Everyday groups of us would split up and ride in the back of pick up trucks to get to our places where we were going to set up our clinics. Because I took a Spanish course the semester before I basicallybecame another translator. We set up clinics to have an Intake (Me), Nurse (nursing and paramedic students), Medication Table (nursing staff and students), massage area (massaging students) and also for the little children I
handed out clothing and toy donations we brought from Canada. We saw about 500 people a day. Times that by 4 or 5 groups….. We tried to do as much as we could with the time that we had. I would totally do it again in a heart beat. I am now enrolled in the BScN program at Georgian College/York University and plan on attending as many trips as possible.
