Where in the World is Monsoon?

Monsoon’s Guest Blog from Ireland

Hello, Kintail Family!

I can’t believe it’s August already. Where did this summer go?!  This year has been my first summer away from Kintail in eleven years, but the camp has always been on my mind.  I spent my June in Prague, and for the past month and a half have been living in Dublin, Ireland. It’s been quite a wonderful experience. In the pictures attached, there’s one of me at the Cliffs of Moher (holding a castle) on the west coast of the country. The other picture is me doing some epic rock climbing at the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. I’m
working in a restaurant and travelling when I can, and am thoroughly enjoying my time here.

I wanted to send a shout out to camp from Ireland, however, to just say to the staff, campers, parents, or anyone else reading this, that I could have never have done something like this if it weren’t for Kintail.  My desire to go abroad was inspired by many of my camp friends before me who have just up and gone to countries around the world. Also, it’s tough some days being in a new place where you don’t know anyone, but because of camp I have learned the skills to help me adapt and meet new people.  If it weren’t for Kintail, I wouldn’t have the confidence I do to be here.

So, thank you.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer, wherever you might be.

Love,

Monsoon

Oh and PS – hearing a local Irish band play ‘Rattlin’ Bog’ was probably one of the best moments of my trip so far.
