This year camp sponsored me to get my waterfront nls it was an amazing course and I’m very thankful for the opportunity. During the course I learned tonnes of things to help us guard better at Camp Kintail. I learned lots of different things, like the effect of weather on the water and swimmers, information about the bottom of the beach floor and what risks and unknowns that there are and how to deal with waves, rocks and sand when preforming rescues. I got the opportunity to shadow the grand bend guards and learn what they looked for from a lifeguarding perspective. The class was a very positive experience and helped me gain more knowledge and prepare me for my summer of watercraft. I got to make many friends in the class including the instructor (Scott Ruddle) who was super knowledgeable and answered any and all questions I had. I’m really excited for another summer of putting this new information to the test. Hope to see you next summer!
