In 2000, I first came to Camp Kintail. I was a camper for four more years after that. As a camper, I had my share of summer crushes (note to parents, it happens!). I was intrigued by relationships I saw were formed at camp, be it platonic or romantic. I even daydreamed that maybe one day I would be on staff and find a boy who really liked me.
Guess what? It happened.
While MAD director in 2009, I met Dune, who had been hired that summer for A+C. Turns out, we clicked. On June 14th, 2014, Dune and I had the privilege of getting married at Camp Kintail.
In a nutshell, it was a wedding any girl could be proud of. It was fun, genuine, and full of love. The best thing was that not only did I get to marry my best friend in a place that means so much to me, but I got to share the camp with everyone else I love. My friends and my family all got to join together at a place they had been hearing about for years. I felt proud to show off Kintail, and am happy that this site could be where I spent one of the most important days of my life.
Crazy that when I think back to little camper Laura, I had no idea of the impact Camp Kintail would have on my life. All in all though, I think Kintail has done me well so far!!
