It’s an amazing thing when you are able to bring something as magical as camp to places and people who cannot otherwise experience it. Being involved with Kintail on the Road (KOTR) gave me an opportunity to see this magic happen first hand. On my very first week of summer camp at Kintail I was leader of a week of Kintail on the Road. Needless to say I was extremely nervous. But after my first day I realized that no matter what happened, if I forgot some small thing or had to improvise with a material or something, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, because the kids don’t notice that part of it. They just see the camp staff coming to their church and having fun and allowing them to go to camp without having to go anywhere at all! All it takes is being able to have fun with the campers, make them smile, and that is what makes the difference. It’s not just the physical place of camp that makes Camp Kintail so important and so special, it’s the incredible staff (especially the wonderful counselors I had with me for KOTR in my experience) and their enthusiasm and caring that really ends up making a difference in a child’s life.
Kintail on the Road is such an amazing opportunity to branch out all over Southwestern Ontario and give so many more children the chance to experience something as incredible as summer camp!
