Around mid-May 2013, 9 staff members (Echo, Crash, Talon, Shea, Cayenne, Zucchini, Talus, Blizzard, myself) took part in 3 days of training for our new High Ropes course. An instructor from Adventureworks came and taught us about all the aspects of the ropes course.
In the mornings we learned about the physics and safety procedures of the course. We also learned about the hardware and the differences between carabiners.
When we were outside, we learned about how the course was set up, how to set up belay lines, and the best options for the belay lines. We also learned the different ways to hook a camper up to the belay lines.
After the 3 days of training, we were all ready to send campers up the course, and 2 days later, we were doing just that. The high ropes course has been a big success and a huge attraction at camp this summer, and I feel privileged to have been a part of it.
