Hey, Turkey here again. This is the final installment of the fall season wrap-up. I told you before about the improvements we made in the cabins. But the upgrades didnt end there:
Yurt Village
The addition of the yurt village in the spring completely transformed the space we use in the Glen. This fall we were able to finish the bottom of the ramp & boardwalk by adding benches and ramps to the picnic area and the outhouse.

The ramp down to the glen and through the Yurt village has been completed. Benches were added as well as access to the campfire and outhouse.
MacDonald Lodge Doors
We love when we can make things more accessible at camp. MacDonald Lodge was fitted with new electronic doors that make it easier for wheelchair users to access the dining hall. These new metal doors with window inserts were installed on the 4 entrances to the dining hall and will undoubtedly make the lodge more accessible to campers, staff, and all visitors to Kintail. Special thanks to the former congregation of Knollwood Park & a grant from our National Church from bequests that made these new accessible doors a reality.
Bonus addition: A new water fountain in the dining hall in MacDonald Lodge!
At the end of the fall season, a new water fountain was installed. I am particularly geeked out about this one because it also has a water bottle filling station where you can place your bottle and it will fill it up. An electronic meter informs us how many plastic bottles we’ve saved from landfill while doing this. Isn’t that awesome?
This fall was an enormous success and it would not have been possible without the energy and hard work of all the Fall staff members; Friction, Oleander, Escarpment, and Jasper. A special thank you to Arctic, Starling (Rev. Shelley Butterfield Kocis), Lipizzaner (Franck Kocis), and Don Duncan who came up throughout the season to give an extra hand. Lastly we are thankful to those who came throughout the fall season to volunteer or spend the occasional weekend with us. We’re excited to see all of you back again this year and cannot wait to see what 2016 brings!
Turkey 🙂
