This year I worked at camp for spring and summer staff, and decided that was not enough. So I stayed, working September, October and a good chunk of November. Working spring, summer, and fall have made 2014 my longest camp season, and it has been great. September was busy, with school groups every week, a wedding, and many retreat groups. That didn’t leave much room for my favourite camp job, maintenance. October filled that need, we still had a couple school groups, lots of retreat groups and another wedding. With a few less then September, we had time to get started on maintenance, ranging from cabins to the lodge – we got a lot done. November had no school groups and one rental group willing to brave the cold in our insulated cabins, but as it is the end of the official camp season of 2014 we started closing up which is always a long job of cleaning, moving picnic and packing up program areas. The fall was overall an awesome time, and a couple lucky staff got to see camp in a layer of snow which is a beautiful sight. If I ever get another free fall, I think fall staff will be a sweet way to spend it.
