Special Day: Campfire

July 17, 2020

Campers sit around a campfire at the beach by Lake Huron with overlaying text reading "Special Day Campfire".

What is #KintailCampfire?

We all cherish the memories made around the campfire. The stories we share, the songs we sing, and the snacks everyone always hopes for seconds of. This week for #KintailAtHome, we invite you to join us for a #KintailCampfire! Maybe you have a fire pit, a chimenea, or a fireplace at home, or maybe this will be a time to sit together in the backyard or living room! Share photos and videos of your time together and take a look/ listen at what other Kintail families get up to. We may not be sitting beside each other- but #KintailCampfire will be a night where we’ll be able to sing a song and know that somewhere out there a friend is singing along too.

Bring Home the Music

Check out these song-lists from Kintail alumni! See what songs were most popular around your time at Kintail – maybe these will bring back some classics that may have slipped your mind! Check back in and we’ll keep adding lists as the summer goes on!

1999-2000’s Roots

  • Down at Kintail Camp
  • The Moose Song
  • Who’s side are you leaning on
  • Boom Chicka Boom
  • The Coconut Song (I was reading my Bible)
  • Going on a lion’s hunt
  • It’s not hard
  • King Jesus is all
  • Father, I adore you
  • Lord, you are more precious than silver
  • Come and walk with me

Snack the Night Away

Some other classic Kintail campfire snacks include pretzels, goldfish, wafer cookies, grapes, and of course, marshmallows and s’mores! But have you ever had a camper come home talking about some kind of yummy doughey treat that they ate around a campfire? It’s bannock! Do you know the significance of bannock? Listen to this short segment from CBC Radio to learn more! And then enjoy this amazing Classic Bannock – Recipe!

Practice Some Guitar

Guitar chords and tutorials are everywhere! Take advantage and get to practicing so you can entertain your family and or start a sing-along for campfire night. If you’d like to enjoy the sights and sounds of Kintail, and learn from Beebalm, you can check out “The Songbook Made Simple” on our website!
