Good Afternoon!
Have you ever heard of Disc Golf? It is a game that is played like ball golf, but instead of hitting a ball with a club toward a hole, you throw a disc (Frisbee) toward a basket.
Is this news to you? How about some more news: Camp Kintail has a 15 hole Disc Golf Course!
Even more, as part of An Especially Special Night, we will be hosting our 2nd annual Disc Golf Tournament.
Here is a message from Dan Arppe, winner of our first tournament:
“As the reigning Especially Special Night Disc Golf Champion, I know first-hand, not only how incredible the disc golf tournament is, but the event as a whole. Top notch competition, a course groomed to perfection, good people and good refreshments along the way, it really leads off what is a fantastic fall event. Really anyone can play (somehow I won, despite being a newbie to the sport) and you don’t even have to bring your own frisbee. It’s also a great chance to meet some new people; as a sport I would liken it to curling because the fun and camaraderie are the main priority, tossing discs is kind of secondary. Getting to tour the beautiful Camp Kintail site at the same time just makes it an event that should not be missed, probably one of the best kept secrets on the Eastern shores of Lake Huron. Besides the standard prize for lowest score, there are longest drive, closest to pin, and highest score prizes. So please come early, join in the afternoon fun, and provide me with some much needed opposition, as I certainly do not have the skill to win 2 years in a row.”The Disc Golf Tournament is a great time to meet people and play a sport that is gaining popularity across the country. As a first time player, Dan won last year’s tournament. Who will take the crown this year? It could be you! We can’t wait to see your testimonial before next year’s tournament!
