An Especially Special Night by Monsoon

By October 5, 2012Uncategorized

Hello, it’s Monsoon here!

For 13 years Camp Kintail has been a part of my life in one aspect or another. I have been a camper, an LIT, a counsellor, program staff and now am a proud alumni. In the grand scheme of the history of Kintail, I haven’t actually been a part of this wonderful place that long. However, in the time I have been there, I have seen an exponential change at camp. In 2008, Rev Theresa McDonald-Lee came to Kintail to become the new director, bringing her amazing family with her.

Theresa and her husband, Jonathan, have made some significant changes to the camp over the past few years. Internally, there have been changes to the programs offered through Kintail and I have been there to see more and more campers coming every year. Externally, the site itself has significantly changed. Outdoor showers were added to the Hill Washrooms, Caitlyn’s Gazebo was built, the lodge has undergone a major face lift, and in the past few years a Rockwall and Gaga Pit were added for campers to enjoy some new activities. This just scratches the surface of the work that Theresa and Jonathan have put in to the site to help it look better than I have ever seen it (and I am sure some older alumni would agree!)

In order to make all this happen, however, it goes without saying that you need a bit of funding. This is where An Especially Special Night comes in to play. Some of you may have heard about it already,  but here it is again: for the 3rd year, Kintail will be hosting a dinner/dance fundraiser. The money raised from the evening will go towards the “Dream Big Fund”. Currently the fund is being used to raise money for a new high ropes course, and in future years the fund will be used to consistently allow the site to grow and change to provide the best experience a camper could get.

The event is October 20th starting at 2pm. For all the details, check out this page: http://www.campkintail.ca/get-involved/an-especially-special-night/.

I really hope you can make it out, or contribute towards the cause. Camp Kintail is an amazing place to be, and only keeps getting better. Of course, without the support from all of those who love it, that just wouldn’t be possible.

Thank you all, hopefully see you soon!
