A Bride’s Thank You

My husband and I got married at Camp Kintail on July 9, 2016 and I cannot say enough good things about the camp itself, or the staff. We had so many compliments from our guests about everything from the beautiful grounds and stunning outdoor chapel to the staff friendliness and absolutely delicious food.
I had a definite vision of what I wanted the day to be but since we lived 3 hours away and I had never been a camper there myself, I wasn’t sure how much of that vision was realistic. However, the staff was so open and accommodating with every single request I had and made sure the day went off without a hitch. I must have sent a million emails to Johnathon in the year leading up to the wedding and he was quick to reply to each one and answer any questions or concerns.
Since we got married in July there were still young campers on the grounds until Saturday morning and I was a bit worried about not being able to set up ahead of time. However, I met with Meagan the Friday night and showed her everything I envisioned for the centrepieces, guestbook table, gift table, etc. and she made sure it all came together beautifully. I was able to spend Saturday morning getting my hair and makeup done, taking photos with my groom and our wedding party, and drinking mimosas and didn’t have to worry about the decorations, centrepieces, etc. because she had it all taken care of. Being a bit of an A-type personality and a perfectionist, this meant so much to me. We also prepared our own cocktail hour food, s’mores bar and nacho bar and the staff was more than willing to set those foods out for me at the requested times. Every single one of the staff went above and beyond to help out wherever needed and were always professional and SO incredibly friendly. This was amazing as it meant we got to just relax and enjoy our day together and didn’t have to worry about any of the small details or setup.
Camp Kintail catered the rehearsal dinner, wedding party lunch and wedding dinner for us and we had compliment upon compliment about how delicious it was. Lisa was so accommodating with any food allergies/intolerance that we had and came up with delicious combinations for each meal. I expected a very simple meal for the rehearsal dinner and the wedding party lunch as we had requested a burger bar and sandwich buffet, but even these were above and beyond our expectations. There was a variety of options and toppings for each and everybody walked away stuffed and completely satisfied (they even found me an apron to wear during the lunch so I wouldn’t spill on my wedding dress!) For our wedding dinner we chose a combination of chicken breast with balsamic reduction and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, along with oven roasted potatoes, mixed veggies, a ginger citrus quinoa salad, salad bar and dessert buffet. It was all sensational and guests made sure to tell me so over and over.
Our guests also loved the setup of the camp as the camping enthusiasts could bring their own trailers or tents, while the less frequent campers could stay in one of the cabins and only needed to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. The cabins and washrooms were all very clean and ready to go and each and every staff member was quick to point guests in the right direction when they were unsure of where they were going.
The morning after the wedding there were staff everywhere helping us take down decorations and clean up the hall for their next influx of campers that afternoon. Although I’m sure many of them were tired from working the wedding the night before, they still remained exceptionally cheerful, helpful and professional.
I’m sure I am missing so many things that I should be praising the Camp Kintail staff for, but overall the best word I can use to describe them (and the camp) is absolutely amazing. I hope that someday in the future I will have the opportunity to attend another wedding at Camp Kintail and enjoy it’s beauty again. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone at Camp Kintail that contributed to making our day so perfect, we are forever grateful.
Love,
