10 years as a camper…. 1 summer as an L.I.T. (my 10 year reunion is happening this year)... 2 years as a counsellor, 3 years on P Staff, multiple visits to volunteer or attending An Especially Special Night… then, getting married at Kintail in 2014.

You’d think I would have had enough by now!

But no! For the 2nd time in the past few years, a group of my friends and I rented Camp Kintail to spend a chilly evening together celebrating and ringing in the New Year. This group consisted of many former Kintailers, some of my friends outside of camp, and my new family members.

There is something beautiful about visiting the site in the winter. You see Kintail in a whole new light, appreciating the majesty of the frozen waves, the warmth of an indoor fire, and the stillness of barren trees. Although I love the summer, full of hundreds of excited individuals running around the site, there is a fulfilling peace that comes from having the site to yourself.

For anyone who hasn’t tried it, I fully recommend coming to Kintail in the off season. Feathers is warm and cozy and there are always adventures to be had! I personally couldn’t think of anywhere else I would have rather been to kick offf my 2015.

Happy New Year to all!
