Yesterday, the Men’s Fellowship from Knox Presbyterian Church in Goderich spent the morning at Kintail.  After the tornado in Goderich last summer, the men’s group from Knox brought up a lot of wood that had been blown down.  Yesterday they came and split the wood and the staff helped to stack it for campfire wood this summer.  It may actually take us several years to get through all the wood!  Thanks to the Men’s Fellowship for all their help.  They will be returning in a couple of weeks to continue this work.

A couple of weekends ago we had the pleasure of welcoming the Men’s group from Central Presbyterian in Cambridge to Kintail! They worked on several projects around Camp to get us ready for the summer, and had a lot of fun doing it!                                    

They built us four new picnic tables to be used around the site for years to come, they replaced several receptacles and switches in the cooks cabin “Owls Burrow”, they did a bunch of work with the Chainsaw and general forest maintenance, they took off the screen doors around the lodge to be refurbished for the season, and they put in our boardwalk on the beach for the Zodiac! Below are some pictures of their work around camp, and I want to sincerely thank each and every one of them for their contribution to Camp Kintail!

Hey camp people! Disc golf season started early this year for me, when Oliver Ocelot Gaskin and I played the course at Mohawk Park (Brantford), on March 25th.

Since then, I’ve played rounds at Chicopee ski hill, Mohawk and Kintail. However I just went with Scott Mcginnis to a course at Shades Mills Cambridge last Wednesday. They have a very nice course with lots of wildlife, and variety.

Camp has been in my life since I was six years old. Each summer I learned more about myself, the world and God through being in the outdoors with new friends and role models. I can’t even begin to explain how much I learned from the simple things, like the warmth of a fire or the sound of a canoe gliding across the water. I found myself at camp, along with the other children my age who sought to find their place. Being a camper inspired me to seek God in places I often overlooked, and to keep going when I challenged the impossible.

Although I’m not exactly a champion runner, I will be running the lane on June 10th so other kids can know the love and joy camp brings. I want them to be able to not stop talking about their new friends and counsellors the whole ride home. I want them to be able to dream, and learn about the wondrous love God has for them. I want them to be able to grow in the amazing Christian community camp is. It may take me the whole day, but I’ll cross the finish line with a smile from ear to ear when I know more kids can experience the wonders of camp and have it shape their life in the way it’s shaped mine.

Hi friends, its Aaron here. This past summer I ran the lane twenty-five times whenever I could find time to spare. My top time to the sign post and back was just over 13 minuets. To me running is a great stress relief and helps me center myself and get ready for the upcomming day. Its a great feeling to set personal goals and surpass them. In June I’ll be running the lane to help send Kids to Kintail. I would love it if you all were to join me for a day of good ole’ fashion cardio, and a great cause.

On June 10th, Camp Kintail will be hosting “Run The Lane for Campers.”  We are excited to raise money for our Campership Fund to allow even more children attend camp this summer.

I am running because I was sponsored to come to Camp Kintail when I was a child.  My home congregation of Glencoe Presbyterian Church has an amazing group of women called The Willing Workers.  They decided in the early 1980′s to pay half the camp fee for any child who wanted to go to camp.  This was a huge gift of love from these women to the children of the church.  I am certain that over fifty children over the past thirty years have been able to go to camp due to the love and support of these women.  It wasn’t a one time offer, as I was able to attend camp every year from the time I was six to when I was a Leader in Training at fifteen.  Many of those campers have went on to become staff members at Kintail and involved members of Glencoe Presbyterian Church.  These women invested in me and they believed that camp would make a difference – and it did!

I credit camp with so much  in my life.  It was a safe place where I was able to become who God was calling me to be.  I found a circle of friends.  I spent time in the outdoors.  I learned to paddle a canoe, portage a canoe, tie a knot, build a fire, and take care of the earth.  I learned patience and compassion.  I realized that I needed to pay attention to the smallest among us.  I struggled to live in Christian community and learned that the struggle is worth the effort. I found the love of God over and over again.

I am running the lane because I want others to have the same experience.  I was lucky enough to have women in my life who wanted the best for me.  I want to be there for children who may not have that circle of support.  I want every child to feel safe and loved and beloved.
